W.I.R. LA

UTSTARK

Yes WE/W.I.R!

W.I.R., including you: students, parents, teachers, new and

existing residents of Werdau, and all our neighbours

Our neighbours, whom we barely know about, people who

have always lived here, people who came and stayed, who

created and shaped our cityscape: Vietnamese textile stores,

Greek and Italian restaurants, Indian pizzerias, Turkish and

Vietnamese kebabs, pastry bakeries and the stands with the

Thüringer Rostbratwurst!

We want to give these voices from the OFF a chance to

speak. We want to listen to stories and provide a platform/

opportunity for story-sharing. Stories that are able to build

bridges between us and can deepen interpersonal relations-

hips that enrich our world image, because political action

arises primarily from personal experiences.

„Voices fr

om the of

f - stories of our neighbours“

Yes, Lautstark = loudly against racism!

A festival - an attempt - to make solidary self-organization and creati-

ve work of our urban cohabitation possible to experience.

An attempt to discuss all forms of discrimination and oppression

creatively.

W.I.R = WE want to critically question our living reality.

W.I.R = WE want to make our coexistence more inclusive.

W.I.R - Lautstark, a political art and culture festival.

We chose the form of storytelling. We would like to get to know the

stories of our old and new neighbours, whom we barely know about,

even though we live side by side, day by day.

Through stories, we share personal experiences as they connect us,

encourage us to act politically and share a common solidarity against

any form of human hostility.

Populist media and politicians are opposed to this. They polemicize,

split, and stir up hatred and fear. This creates prejudices and false

projections, and the people who read the reports are misguided.

We want to organize workshops, in which we use media (film, radio

/ podcasts) and art (theatre, poetry slam) as tools of storytelling and

resistance. With these concrete tools, we want to express our coun-

ter-perspectives in order to reduce suspicions, prejudices and stig-

mas. These workshops will help to develop alternative, critical and

solidary reports, documentations and artistic-political expressions.

Voices that have been silenced/obliterated, pushed to the edge or

even have been forgotten about we would like to listen to, to rein-

force, to document, and to loudly take them out.

Yes, in Werdau!

Werdau - a mix of different people, cultural influences and lifestyles.

In Werdau, there are potentials that we want to rediscover and

revive.

We want to tackle together, and find spaces for us and design them.

We all have, sometimes unimagined, talents, knowledge and resour-

ces that we can pool and share together.

Instructions

Consideration, respect and solidarity

We are trying to make it a great and inspiring experience for everyo-

ne. In order for us all to feel comfortable, we need to be respectful

and consciously deal with each other. That means being able to say

something when one feels uncomfortable but at the same time to

ask carefully if something is unclear.

We do not want:

• Any forms of discrimination

• Racist, anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, anti-ziganist, sexist, homo/trans-

phobic, ablative ** utterances, including swear words like „gay“ or

„handicapped“

• ** Anti-Ziganism is a constituted term for „gipsy hostility“, which

can be traced back to „anti-Semitism“, including discrimination &

rejection of Sinti and Roman

• ** Ableism is the judgement of people concerning their abilities as

disabled

• Unwanted grabs in a butt, breasts, hair - leave your hands with you

please!

• Unsolicited photos, please respect the privacy and security one

another

• During the whole festival, an awareness Team (recognizable by

the yellow security vest, and the Orga Team) will be available and

present on every location of the festival for any information, ques-

tions, concerns suggestions, needs, criticism and even its just for a

small talk.

* To be aware: to acknowledge things, to recognize, to inform

oneself, to raise awareness or sensitize difficulties

We intend to make use of our house rights and deny access to the

event or exclude individuals who belong to neo-Nazi parties, organiz-

ations or the neo-Nazi scene or who have been drawing attention to

themselves by making racist, nationalist and inhuman statements in

the past.

Childcare

If you have children, but would like to participate in the workshops

or watch movies, you can visit our child care centre Saturday and

Sunday from 10 am to 5.30 pm at Alte Tuchfabrik.

Barriers

Due to the spatial conditions and the area around, it was not possib-

le for us to create all places of the festival wheelchair accessible and

barrier-free. Therefore, we ask you to look for each other and help

each other if assistance is needed. If you have special needs please

write to us beforehand and we will try making necessary arrange-

ments. There will also be some language barriers, which is why we

have put efforts in English translations and contributions, as well as

sign language. Again, look out for each other, translate what is said

and written for each other in other languages, pay attention to your

tempo, etc.

Workshop:

Fighting against racism

15 - 19:00

What is racism and why?

This workshop is trying to create a common understanding

towards the situation of racism and to develop anti-racist

approaches. Therefore, personal experiences can be taken

as example for further discussion.

“Kitchen for All (KüFa)”

and a Get together

starting from 19:00

Since December 2009, every Thursday at 6 pm, the youth club

„Roter Baum“ in Zwickau invites people for vegetarian pleasures.

„Zwickauer Volxküche“ is always taking place in the Jugendcafé

„BuZe“ in the old Gasometer. Depending on the supporting pro-

gram, up to 50 eaters can eat vegetarian dishes at a reasonable

price there. On Thursday and Friday, they will join our festival and

delight us with their delicious dishes. More information about „Roten

Baum“: http://baumhaus.blogsport.de/

Want to make your first short film? Then come and spend 3 days

with Manu I and Chris P! We will tell stories and transform them into

visuals. In small groups, we will brainstorm and use it creatively.

More about the Workshop team members:

Christopher Patz is a documentary filmmaker from Australia.

He is living in Europe for quite a while now. He studied in Canberra,

Madrid, Lisbon, Budapest and Brussels. He is currently working on

a film concerning Pakistani labour struggles in the textile industry,

where, for example, KiK &Co. produces their clothes at a cheap

labour cost.

Manuel Inacker is a German-Croatian director from Siegen. He has

lived in many different countries (e.g. Australia, Turkey and China).

He lives in Berlin now. In 2014, his film unsichtbare Stadt“ “PALLAS-

SEUM - INVISIBLE CITY was his debut short film At the Berlinale

2016.

Poetry Slam Workshop:

 Express yourself!

Anger, grief, joy: sometimes nothing better expresses than through

spoken words. From poetic verses, absurd narratives, simple ways

of writings or just as it comes to mind. Find the right form of expres-

sion to put your ideas and thoughts on paper and lastly on a stage.

Where can I get the creative ideas? How do I write a stage text? How

do I perform in front of the audience?  The Poetry Slam Workshop

conducted by two experienced stage poets, Erik Leichter and Antonin

Fischer, will hopefully give you all the answers to those questions.

Film workshop:

Instant Stories - from snap to film clip

(from 14 Jahre)

In this workshop, we go together to find the stories of our

everyday life. With the aid of small film and writing exercises,

we develop ideas for stories which we can process with simple

tools/methods into film clips. Experiences in film and editing/

cutting techniques are not necessary.  With the help of our

smartphones and/or cameras, we will be shooting creative films

without much materials needed. Please bring your smartpho-

nes or cameras (if available) with you. If you do not have both,

you can still join. Please contact us, we will provide you with

equipment. To the Workshop participants: Since 2016, Tran Thu

Trang has been working as a part of cobratheater.cobra at the

„House of the Digital Youth“, a cooperation with the children‘s

and youth theatre, „Theater an der Parkaue“, sponsored by the

Federal Cultural Foundation. She is part of the Kuratorentea-

mam of the Berlin Asian Film Network, a non-profit platform

by and for film makers as well as film-lovers with Asian-German

references. Since May 2017, she is on the board of the Migra-

tion Council Berlin. Fallon Tiffany abral, dipl. Pol., prepares her

doctoral thesis on the intersection of family and racism research,

works as a freelance trainer and consultant with the focus on

racism, sexism and empowerment.

Theme night

„Voices of our neighbours“

We want to share the stories of our old and new neighbours, who

we might barely know, even though we are living next to each other

day by day. From neighbours who have always been living here, who

came and stayed, who recently moved here. This helps us to get to

know each other better.

We all shape the life of our city.

We want to hear stories and give the room for more stories, which

are able to build bridges among us and deepen our interpersonal

relationships to enrich our worldview, because political action arises

first and foremost from personal experiences. They connect us;

encourage us to act and have common solidarity against any form of

misanthropy.

Through various artistic contributions, some of these voices will

emerge, which is then followed by audience discussion.

ADS - „Attack the System“ - is a group of rappers and music pro-

ducers from Berlin who lyrically and musically fight against racism,

sexism and other forms of oppression. Regardless of personal or

social issues, they are not afraid to criticize grievances and point

their finger to the culprits.

Check out their rhymes and beats here:

www.facebook.com/attackiertdassystem/

Conzert SoulArkestra

The Soularkestra - they consist of Cars10, Cosmo, Jorma Suggah

Baby, Gaxus, Masha, The Mayor, Tiny Tim, D‘Jenselo and the

Ice Liberator - a total of nine heads, ten instruments and three

rappers from Berlin and Hildesheim. They play instrumental Hip-

hop with influences from jazz, reggae, Afro beat and, of course,

soul. Music for the soul with words about the everyday life, and

questions on the society, but always with positive sounds and

messages for the neighbourhood and the community.

You can listen to their songs here:

Conzert ADS

In this workshop, we will develop playful and creative solutions

and various alternate actions in conflict situations - based on real

situations.

An easy introduction to the improvisational theatre will be given.

With the help of mutual trust, group games and exercises to our

voice and body, we will improve our communication skills and

sharpen our perception at the same time. One example for instance

is „Theatre of the oppressed” by Augusto Boal.

simple steps on how you can model your own favourite animal

figure. Therefore we will use the colourful kneading of Fimo - the

oven-hardening texture is characterized by its soft consistency that

is easy to work with and is ideally made to create your own game
